AFM: Faith-Based ‘Do You Believe?’ Aims to Match ‘God’s Not Dead’ Success

Pure Flix, the production company behind faith-based hit “God’s Not Dead,” is bringing “Do You Believe?” to the American Film Market next week.

“Do You Believe?” focuses on a dozen different lives that intersect on the streets of Chicago, starting with a local pastor (Ted McGinley) being moved by the visible faith of an old street-corner preacher, played by Delroy Lindo.

“ ‘God’s Not Dead’ resonated with audiences because it explored and validated the existence of God,” “Do You Believe?” producer David A.R. White said. “‘Do You Believe?’ takes Christianity to another level…the Cross.”

Cast includes Mira Sorvino, Cybill Shepherd, Sean Astin, Lee Majors, Alexa PenaVega, McGinley, Andrea Logan White, Brian Bosworth and Lindo.

Jonathan M. Gunn directed the script from Chuck Konzelman and Cary Solomon, the same writing team from “God’s Not Dead,” with shooting concluding this week in Michigan.

Producers are Michael Scott, White, Russell Wolfe and Elizabeth Travis. It’s the first film for PureFlix since “God’s Not Dead,” which took in $60 million domestically for Freestyle and $50 million more internationally. Two other faith-based films — Sony’s “Heaven Is for Real” and Fox’s “Son of God” — also performed well this year.
